Our clients, dynamic Silicon Valley transplants drawn to Austin for its vibrant music scene and relaxed culture, sought to transform their new condo into a home that reflected their passions: music, wine, dogs, and art. Purchased as a “white box” with only framing in place, the condo offered a blank slate. We seized the opportunity to create a sightline extending from the north to the south of the building, which required an unconventional bed placement in the primary bedroom—an idea the clients enthusiastically embraced. Our design focused on hiding functional elements, such as concealing kitchen appliances with custom millwork paneling and tucking the bar behind large pocketing doors to maintain the emphasis on the view. We ensured architectural continuity by repeating materials and forms like scalloped wood paneling, steel and glass doors, stone expanses, and indirect lighting. The result is a sophisticated urban retreat with a refined industrial aesthetic, perfectly mirroring the clients’ vibrant lifestyle and interests.
